One of the most famous resort towns in North America and maybe even in the entire world is the town of Aspen, which is located in Pitkin County, Colorado in the western United States. Aspen is most widely known for its ski resorts and slopes, for being a seasonal getaway for the rich and famous and for being a top tourist destination for people from all over the world. It is also known for its unique geographical location and stunning natural scenery consisting of the southern Rocky Mountains, the Roaring Fork River, the Roaring Fork Valley and the area is surrounded by vast wilderness on all sides. These geographical features allow for an abundance of outdoor activities in every season. Some of these activities include hiking, swimming, fishing, kayaking, canoeing, mountain biking and nature viewing. There are also a number of tours and excursions available in the area including scenic gondola rides and in the evenings, Aspen comes alive with exciting nightlife.
