This is a beautiful hand-built log cabin. It is built of large cottonwood logs originating from the banks of the Big Hole river 20 miles from Silver Star. The logs are flattened on two sides with a chainsaw, and dove-tail notches are used on the corners to fit the logs in place. This cabin was hand built by the owner, Chip Ashcraft, who is a custom log cabin builder.This cabin features a common sleeping area on the second floor with 1 king bed, 2 queen beds, and a single bed.The cabin is located 400 feet off the county road nestled in a patch of trees, providing a very peaceful and private setting. The closest neighbors are deer and the occasional moose. It is within 5 minutes walking distance of Silver Star fishing access site on the Jefferson river, just downstream from the famous Big Hole, Beaverhead, and Ruby Rivers. It is about an hour's drive to the Madison river. We have private fishing (Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout, etc.) in a spring creek on the ranch.Clair and Doris Everson from Hayden Lake, Idaho, commented: We came on Roots expedition with friends - a success! The Bunkhouse is a spacious log cabin with two bedrooms that have comfortable hand hewn log queen size beds.
