We are situated in the heart of Taradale, just ten minutes from Napier, 15 minutes from Hastings and only minutes away from New Zealand's two oldest wineries, Church Road Winery and Mission Estate Winery - ideally placed for all Hawke's Bay activities. Our premises include a fully self contained two bedroom cottage and two large bed and breakfast rooms in the main house. We are situated on a quiet back section in half an acre of gardens. After a day's sightseeing you are welcome to take a dip in the pool or join us relaxing on the deck.The Garden Cottage: This is self-contained accommodation with two bedrooms, lounge/dining area and fully equipped kitchen. The first bedroom has a king bed while the second has twin beds which can be joined to form a super king bed. Both have quality bedding. There are double wardrobes in each room to store luggage and hang clothes, bedside lights, a radio and plenty of natural light and fresh air. The bathroom has a double spa bath, shower and vanity. The toilet is separate with a wash basin. A dishwasher, fridge/freezer, microwave and cook top, crockery and cutlery, filter coffee maker and washing machine are in the kitchen.In the Main House we have two large bedrooms:The Eleanor Suite: This room contains a super-king bed (or twin singles) with high quality bedding and an en-suite. McLaren Falls has a fine botanical collection of trees and a wide range of birdlife, including the North Island brown Kiwi, North Island robin and long-tailed cuckoo. Trout fishing is permitted all year around in the lake and nearby Ruahihi but you will need a license.Surfers really love this beach as there are many great spots to choose from. Over the summer periods, strong tropical swells often make surfing conditions ideal and with a quick boat trip across the harbour entrance, surfers can indulge in world quality waves off Matakana Island. Mount Maunganui will also soon be the home of New Zealand’s first artificial surfing reef, as in the last few years, a lot of time and effort has been put towards the Mount Reef Project. When this surfing reef is completed, it will make surfing at the Mount even more popular.
